Why is it good to catch small problems early?

When you visit the dentist for your twice-yearly check-up, we always look for any early signs of dental problems. We assess your gum health, check for signs of oral cancer, and identify any cavities. When you are seen by the dentist regularly, these problems can be caught before they develop into bigger issues that more negatively impact your overall health and possibly require more advanced procedures.

When we check your gum health, we look for any sign of swelling or redness. We also measure the depth of your gingival pockets. This helps us to assess the health of your gums and identify early signs of gum disease. We also check the soft tissues of the mouth such as the cheeks, tongue, lips, and floor of the mouth for signs of oral cancer. This test also includes the neck, lymph nodes, and palate. Oral cancer caught early can save a life!

Of course, we also check for cavities. Cavities don't get better on their own, so it's important to get them addressed early. When you visit the dentist regularly, you can maintain good oral health!
